Workingdays.info calculates how many working days each of 28 European countries has in a given month, quarter or year. Every figure starts from the national public holiday calendar, removes Saturdays and Sundays, then removes the public holidays that actually fall on a weekday โ the ones that genuinely reduce working time.

Where the numbers come from
Holiday dates are computed from open holiday data that aggregates official government sources, then combined with a MondayโFriday work week. Days that are widely non-working without being statutory โ Finnish Christmas Eve is the classic case โ are reported in a separate column so you can apply the definition your own contract or collective agreement requires.
The figures are national baselines. Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom all have regional holidays layered on top, so the national number understates the days off in some regions. Each country page sets out exactly where that applies.
